DigitalSurrey July 2012

Google and the Annotated World

Access to Maps and Satellite imagery of any location on the globe on our mobile phones and computers is so common we take its existence for granted – but what goes on behind the scenes to make this possible? And, how will information about our location and the things that are important to us shape the future of the post-pc world?

On July 26 Digital Surrey will be joined by Ed Parsons (@edparsons), the Geospatial Technologist of Google to discuss Google and the Annotated World. Responsible for evangelising Google’s mission to organise the world’s information using geography and tools including Google Earth, Google Maps and Google Maps for Mobile, Ed is heavily involved in the development of Geospatial Technology.

Farnham Castle has generously offered to sponsor July’s DigitalSurrey and will be providing a beautiful location for the event.

Farnham Castle is acknowledged as one of the world’s leading providers of international management development and intercultural training programmes and is Surrey’s premier meeting & conference venue.

Overlooking the picturesque town of Farnham and uniquely located in the 12th century former Bishops of Winchester’s Palace, it is one of the most important historical buildings in the South of England.

Farnham Castle is also an impressive venue for corporate and private events and of course the most romantic of weddings.

July’s DigitalSurrey is also supported by WXG (Web Expo Guildford). On October 12, Kyan will be holding the first WXG, a full day speaker and networking event dedicated to creating cutting edge web experiences, with parallel speaker sessions on design & development.

WXG is being held at G Live centre in central Guildford, just 12 minutes walk from Guildford’s mainline train station. 35 minutes away from London Waterloo and just over 20 mins from Farnham by car.
